Typical of the area where the MetService Volunteers were working.
The bright green is tree lucerne - a nursery crop. The yellow is gorse. The "white" items are plastic
'hare nets' used to protect seedlings from rabbits and hares.
There have been multiple years of plantings here - reflected in the different stages of growth.
A major task of tree care work is to provide protection from
nibbling rabbits and hares, hence the
'hare net' plastic protectors.
Preparing a plastic sleeve ('hare net') to go over the wire frame for the tree seedling in front of him. That's dead gorse in the background.
Tree care - MetService Volunteers and Friends - 12 May 2010. Job well done!
