The 5 P's

In nature, trees produce seeds; the seeds reach the ground; they sprout if there is sufficient light, warmth and water; they grow when there is sufficient protection from the elements and predators; and they produce seeds when mature enough.  This is the cycle of reproduction.

To restart the growing of native trees in the Valley the first parts of this cycle have to be performed artificially.

The 5 P's are the initial letters of the actions that have to be performed.

  • Pick the seeds from the bush
  • Pot them so they'll grow
  • Prepare for planting
  • Plant the seedlings
  • Protect the seedlings with plastic covers and pest control
